Who runs Pinlog?
And why is my data safe?
Pinlog isn't run by an anonymous company, but by a hobby detectorist from Austria:

As a software developer and an enthusiastic detectorist for several years, I faced the same problem as probably some of you: I wanted to manage my finds digitally but never found the right solution. There was no tool that could do everything I expect from an app for managing finds and researching new spots.
So I simply started developing Pinlog – with one clear goal: to create the app that I myself want to use 100%.
Our find spots and records in particular are sensitive data – they must not be handled carelessly. That's why protecting this information is not an afterthought, but the foundation Pinlog is built on. Here I'd like to show you how I keep this promise and ensure the security of your data.

Your guarantee of data protection
The security of your Pinlog data is my top priority. That's why it is stored exclusively with my reliable partner all-inkl.com in a certified data centre in Dresden. So your data never leaves Germany.
That's more than a technical detail: because the data is stored in the EU, it is automatically subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – one of the strictest data protection laws in the world. In practice this means: your data may not simply be sold on or transferred to countries with weaker data protection standards, and you always have the right to access, obtain and delete your data.
Unlike many international providers whose servers are located somewhere in the world, with Pinlog you know exactly where your find data is stored and which laws protect it.
Your data belongs to you
and only to you
With many big apps and companies you never quite know what happens to your data – whether it is analysed, passed on or sold to advertising networks and data brokers. With Pinlog, exactly that is ruled out.
Your find data is not sold, not rented and not passed on to third parties. Your find spots are never shared with anyone.
And the question many people rightly ask – “How does he make money if not with my data?” – I'll answer openly: Pinlog is funded exclusively by the optional Pinlog Pro subscription, not by selling or analysing your data.
Your data is not a business model for me. What you document in Pinlog is your business alone. And if you like, you can get all your finds as an export at any time – or have your account and all its data deleted completely. A short email is all it takes – I'll take care of it personally, usually within 3 working days.

SSL encryption
Encrypted like online banking
Every single data transfer between the Pinlog app on your phone and the server is protected by strong SSL/TLS encryption. Think of it as a secure, encrypted tunnel your data travels through. This means nobody can read your information, not even on public Wi-Fi. It's the same security standard that keeps you safe with online banking.
Phone lost or broken?
Your finds stay.
A phone is quickly lost, stolen or broken – and all the finds you so carefully entered would be gone forever. Pinlog protects you from exactly that. Thanks to central storage on a secure server in Germany and regular, professional backups, your finds are safe.
Simply log in on a new device and all your finds are back immediately, as if nothing had happened.
Optional coordinates
Your find, your decision
Protecting your find spots is a top priority. That's why Pinlog never forces you to enter GPS coordinates. Simply document your finds with photos (optional) and notes to manage your collection – your find spot stays your secret. If you do decide to save a location, you can add GPS coordinates to your finds at any time.
Your finds are never publicly visible!
You stay anonymous
No real names
In Pinlog you don't have to reveal your identity. Registration requires no real name and no address. All you need is an email address, which is used solely to secure your account, for example to reset your password.
This keeps your real identity separate from your activities in the app and protects your privacy.
